Glamour's 2011 Women of the Year - All Amazing

A BLOG POST BY STEPHENIE FOSTERDecember Glamour Last night I was lucky enough to attend the 21st annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall.

What an inspiring night, and what a diverse group of women.  From Gloria Steinem receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award to T, a brave survivor of child sex trafficking here in the US to Egypt’s “Facebook Girl” to Laura, Barbara and Jenna Bush.  These women, and millions of others around the world, have so much talent, passion and drive, and take actions that improve the lives of so many others.  (Oh and did I mention that Jennifer Lopez pictured on the cover of Glamour also got an award.) One of the best lessons from last night, echoed by awardees Arianna Huffington and Tory Burch especially, is that we should see failures and setbacks as opportunities to take the next step.  I was also so moved by the courage of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, whose husband Mark Kelly accepted her award.

Thanks to Glamour for a wonderful night, for reminding us of some of the remarkable women of 2011 and for helping all of us reflect on the extraordinary accomplishment s of so many of our sisters, daughters, mothers and friends.
